2017 marks the 11th year that IPS have been supplying Outdoor Stages and technical services to the Aylesbury Town Council event.
Milton Keynes based Impact Production Services (IPS) supplied a full technical production package, and the sunny bank holiday weekend helped make for a very successful event. Over 11,000 people were reported to have attended the event, and enjoyed the music and activities over the weekend, including food & drink stalls, funfair rides and inflatables.The Parklife event is in two parts, with the ever popular ‘Live in the Park’ on the Saturday featuring over 9 hours of live musical performances across two stages, and the ‘Proms in the Park’ on Sunday sees the Aylesbury Concert Band take to the stage for a classical performance. The event venue in Vale Park is also host to lots of other activities, including concession stands and activities including football, funfair rides and bouncy castles. The event is then wrapped up with a spectacular firework display.
IPS supplied a full technical production solution, with Andy Marshall looking after all production elements. The main stage was a Prolyte 12m x 10m MPT Outdoor Roof structure with PA wings, and for the first time this year a second stage was also supplied, which was a Prolyte 6m x 4m Arc Outdoor Roof Structure. This is the first year for the two stage configuration, which made changeovers between acts much slicker – although kept the team of IPS technicians running the event on their toes!
Audio was provided by the IPS d&b audiotechnik V-Series Line Array system, which provided smooth even audio coverage for the 3500 people in front of the performance area, and also enabled minimal audio spill into other areas. Front fills were Y-Series cabinets, and stage monitoring was handled by the new d&b M4 wedges. Control was via Yamaha digital desks, and a digital multicore system was used to get all the signals to the right places – including from the wide range of microphones used during the event to deal with everything from a two piece band to a full orchestra.
Lighting fixtures used included Martin Quantum LED profiles and Robe Pointe fixtures helped provide some creative flourishes. Generic fixtures provided a stage wash, and various LED fixtures including the SGM Q-7 provided a splash of colour. Control was from an Avolites desk, and Avo dimmers were also used to connect things up. A Chauvet X6IP Outdoor LED Screen provided a digital backdrop to the main stage, and displayed band details and other information throughout the event.
Power was supplied to the whole site from a total of 5 generators, all super silenced units supplied by IPS. The main stage was powered by a 67kVA set, and a mixture of 25kVA and 6kVA units were used for concessions and other area. Power distribution was via a range of IPS cabling and distribution boxes, and protected where required by Midi Defender and DDA approved cable ramp.
Overall, it was a very successful event enjoyed by many – and a great way to bring the summer towards an end.
