Summer Staff & Work Placements 2025
We are now taking applications for Summer Staff 2025
Are you studying on a technical or events related course and looking to gain some practical experience working on festival and event sites all over the UK this summer? Our summer staff scheme is an opportunity to work alongside the IPS team and earn money whilst learning the ropes. Most of the summer work is Staging & Structures based (almost all our projects have a bit of LiteDeck on them somewhere!) although our work also regularly includes Rigging, Lighting, Sound, Video and Power Generation & Distribution.
- Gain Experience
- Develop Your Skills
- Make Connections
- Earn Money
The summer staff works as a paid fixed term contract typically running between May and October, although we can vary exact dates to suit individual applicants. Based in Milton Keynes, this role would involve working in our warehouse and on a range of event sites all over the UK. A lot of physical work is required within this role, so you would need to be prepared for an amount of manual tasks including regularly working outside. It is a great way to gain practical experience to support skills being learnt and find out how things really work onsite.
If this sounds like something that would suit you, please send an email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. with the subject line 'Summer Staff 2025' and include your contact details, a current CV and a brief explanation of why you would like to work with IPS.
There is also scope for warehouse only based roles if you are less keen to get onsite, and we are also happy to discuss other placement or work experience based options if you are excited to work with us but the summer staff position doesn't quite work for you - please get in touch to discuss further.

Deign Suite
IPS has launched a dedicated Design Suite. Based with the IPS Milton Keynes warehouse, this smart space is fitted with everything required for creative lighting design.
A high specification PC workstation running the latest version of Cast WYSIWYG Perform is the heart of the setup, connected via a Luminex ArtNet node to the lighting desk of your choice. A 60" UHD monitor means that visualisations can be easily seen. There is even a sofa area with refreshments and a TV for when you need a break, and a separate desk with WI-FI enabling a production manager or designer to work alongside a programmer if required.
IPS have a range of lighting desks from Avolites, Chamsys and GrandMA within the hire inventory that can be used in the Design Suite, or you can supply your own. Also, if a particular lighting fixture is required for demo, or to work out pixel mapping for example, there is a dedicated 16a supply in the room so this can be brought in as required.
- The Design Suite has the following equipment:
- Control Desk Space with 22" Illyama HD Monitor, 60" UHD Samsung Monitor & Yamaha Active Studio Reference Speakers
- WYSIWYG Rack including workstation PC running WYSIWYG Perform release 37 & Luminex 8 way ArtNet Node
- Lighting Desk of your choice (subject to availability)
- Office Desk with Wi- Fi
- Sofa Area with Coffee Machine, Beer Fridge & HD TV with Freeview

What we do
We work in the technical side of the events industry, supplying Staging, Lighting, Rigging, Sound, Video and Power equipment and services. Our work regularly sees us out on festival sites, at film premieres, as well as at private and business events. We also offer our equipment for hire, and it can be found in concert and exhibition venues, theatres, schools, fields, film sets and all kinds of other places all over the UK – and further afield.
The services we offer are split into three main areas: Staging & Structures, Technical Production, and Trade Equipment Hire.
Staging & Structures covers our Outdoor Roof Stages, Outdoor Structures and Indoor Staging and structures services. There are details of our Roof Stages here, which include a range of standard solutions, such as a 15m Trailer Stage, which is one of the largest mobile stages in the UK, or curved roof options from 6m wide to 18m wide all the way up to our flagship self-climbing structure, a huge 24m wide Eurotruss festival stage. They all can be customised in various ways to add side wings, cowsheds, additional platforms, and ramps to suit your event. There are details of our Outdoor Structures here, which include covered structures such as our Front of House positions or Projection and Control Towers, as well as Rigging, PA and LED Screen support systems – and of course all kinds of stage platform, for performances, viewing, levelling and much more.
We do also work on a lot of indoor projects. Typical structures include seating or control platforms, equipment supporting or display platforms, steps and ramps, rear of stage bridge structures, and of course all kinds of Stages. Stage platforms for conferences, bands, theatrical performances and much more can be built to almost any size at a wide range of heights – or multiple heights, with steps or ramps to access. Subject to a few criteria, there isn’t much we can’t build.
Our Technical Production service is ideal if you need a complete solution for either one specific element of your production, or we can look after all your technical requirements. We regularly work alongside our customers onsite, so if you just for example want a power and rigging option where you provide video and audio, we are happy to help. If you need guidance developing a design concept into a physical structure, we can help with plans, structural calculations and getting everything installed onsite as part of our service. IPS is also offers Venue Services, and is the in house technical partner for the Marshall Arena in Milton Keynes.
