The first LED Moving Head profile fixture in IPS hire stock is the powerful new MAC Quantum
IPS has taken delivery of 30 Martin MAC Quantum Profile fixtures. Featuring a high output 475w LED source, these units are an alternative to 700/800 watt discharge fixtures, and in the longer term will be replacing the IPS MAC 550 profile and MAC 700 profile units. Check out the latest hire prices here.
These new Moving Head fixtures are available for hire now, and are supplied flightcased in pairs. Supplied with hanging clamps and safety bond, plus a 16a to PowerCon inlet cable, the units also have 5pin DMX in and out connectors. Weighing in at 23.2kg, these fixtures are significantly lighter than the MAC 550 & 700 units (which weigh 31kg and 34.4kg respectively) and having a similar physical size which should make handling the units easy, and help to enable them to be incorporated in even more creative locations. The fixture features an internal battery, so mode and DMX addresses can be set without needing have a power supply connected for setup.
The MAC Quantum Profile features CMY colour mixing, as well as a fixed colour wheel. Within the colour wheel, there is a CTC option, or the open white colour temperature of the LED source is 6500k. The MAC Quantum has 10 static plus 6 changeable rotating gobos. These are 27.9mm diameter, so the same size as used in the MAC 550 and 700 units.
The units have iris, focus, prism and zoom functions, with an electronic shutter and dimmer control. The dimmer can produce both a smooth dimming curve, and various strobe effects. The zoom range is 12 to 36 degrees. There is also the new 'animotion' effect which offers an animation wheel style look to add texture to gobos – this is achieved by individually controlling elements of the LED source.
The fixtures will be supplied by IPS in extended mode, which requires 27 DMX channels. This allows the various built in effects macros to be accessed via DMX if required.
The MAC Quantum Profile units are already proving to be a popular hire item. For more information about these units, or if you have any events coming up where IPS can help with lighting, please get in touch to discuss your requirements – we look forward to hearing from you.
