Making a suitably dramatic entrance, IPS has added the Electro Kabuki system to our ever growing inventory
The Electo Kabuki systems stocked by IPS consist of a firing box and a series of Kabuki release units. The release units simply link together using the special EK male to female cables (couplers will be in stock very soon too) and all the units release simultaneously. The Kabuki release units are supplied fitted with a half coupler for easy rigging, and each unit can support a load of up to 50kg. From a single unit up to 200 releases can be operated simultaneously, so there is plenty of scope for small or large scale shows.
The Electro Kabuki system is proving to be a popular choice with lots of venues and hire companies, and the MK2 models that are stocked by IPS have already proved themselves to be a very robust system. Another nice failsafe feature of these units is that power is applied to release the system – so it won't release if the power is accidently disconnected. For more details, check out the manufacturer's website here.
The Electro Kabuki system can be used to drop a drape, reveal banners, drop a net for a balloon drop – or even a Chandelier. There are a huge range of applications for the system – in fact the first two hires have been to provide a big reveal for special guest band The Kaiser Chiefs at a corporate event, and to also to the drop a Chandelier during a performance of Phantom of the Opera.
The Phantom Chandelier drop was achieved using a single Electro Kabuki unit and firing box, and gave a dramatic end to the first half of the inaugural show in the newly opened Performance Space in the Denbigh School Performing Arts Centre, Milton Keynes. The specially constructed Chandelier really did smash every night, ready for a team of students to rebuild for the next performance! This was just one of the various special effects deployed by the ambitious Denbigh School production team, with technical mastermind Dave Wilkie also creating a peppers ghost effect, alongside a multi-level stage design for their show, complete with raised orchestra platform. IPS Project Manager Richard Wilson worked on the project, helping develop the ideas from the initial concepts into a deliverable project within the available budget. IPS supplied a variety of technical equipment including radio mics and lighting to supplement the installed system, and supplied and built the staging platform.
