V & Y Series d&b PA systems have arrived at IPS, along with D80 amplifiers
IPS have d&b V series and Y series PA systems in stock now. These new additions to the range fit neatly alongside the existing T10 and E6 cabinets to ensure that we have the right systems available to meet all kinds of PA requirements. The V Series is a line array system ideal for larger events, whilst the Y Series is a very versatile range of point source cabinets that are positioned to take over from the Q series, and will be at home on events from a band night to a conference. If you are already interested, check out our dry hire prices section for our current prices, or see below for some more information about these systems.
The d&b audiotechnik V series is a line array system, consisting of V8 and V12 cabinets, which are supplemented by the V-Subs. Driven by the new D80 amplifiers, the V8 and V12 boxes can achieve staggering 142db output. The V8 & V12 are 3-way passive design housing 2 x 10" LF drivers, one hornloaded 8" MF driver and two 1.4" exit HF compression drivers with 2.5" voicecoils mounted to a dedicated waveshaping device, with both boxes weighing in at 34kg each. The V8 has an 80o horizontal dispersion, whilst the V12 offers 120o dispersion, and the cabinets can be used either in drops of the same type, or they would be usually mixed to provide the required audience coverage. Clever integrated rigging options and well-designed hardware make these cabinets really easy to fly, and they are supplied from IPS in touring carts, which mean that they can by wheeled in under the points, and flown almost straight off the truck. Adding the low end muscle to the system is the V-Sub is an actively driven high performance cardioid subwoofer powered by a single amplifier channel. It houses two long excursion neodymium drivers, an 18" driver in a bass-reflex design facing to the front and a 12" driver in a two chamber bandpass design radiating to the rear. Weighing it at 64kg per cabinet, these subs provide an impressive kick, but still manage to keep the energy very much in front of the system. For more details, check out the V Series on the d&b website here.
IPS has taken stocks of the Y7P and Y10P from the d&b audiotechnik Y series. These relatively compact cabinets have a huge output, and really sound good. Complemented by either the V-Sub for larger events, or the slightly more discrete B4 Sub for low end reinforcement, the Y cabinets have lots of applications. Weighing 18kg per cabinet, the 2-way passive Y7P & Y10P loudspeakers each feature two 8” drivers in a dipole arrangement with a 1.4” compression driver mounted onto a rotatable CD horn. The Y7P offers a 75o by 40o dispersion, whilst the Y10P has an 110o by 40o dispersion, and both have rotatable horn for horizontal or vertical positioning. Lots of rigging options are available, and the cabinets are supplied flightcased in pairs with hanging clamps and stand adaptors, or can be mounted on distance poles above subs. For more details, check out the Y Series on the d&b website here.
The driving force behind these new systems is the new d&b audiotechnik D80 amplifier. This Class D powerhouse has 4 output channels each capable of producing 2000 watts with an 8 ohm load, and features some very clever DSP enabling delay, equalisation and output load balancing all to take place from a 2U rack, weighing just 19kg. A full colour TFT touch screen on the front of the units allows access to the settings, or using the built in Ethernet access ports, d&b R1 software can be used to set up the systems – even using exported data directly from Array Calc. For more technical information, check out the D80 on the d&b website here. IPS stocks the D80 amplifiers both individually, and in three way touring rack enclosures, which are ideal for system applications. Check out prices in our dry hire section here.
