Amongst the first UK rental stocks of the Mythos are available now from IPS.
The Clay Paky Mythos is a high output moving head fixture, which is part of the new generation of ‘hybrid’ fixtures that can operate as a profile, wash and beam fixture, as it boasts an impressive zoom range of 4° to 50°.
A 470 watt short arc discharge source with a 7800K colour temperature ensures that this fixture has a lot of punch, and drawing around 3.5A per unit at 230v, these units have a modest power consumption. The fixture has the now standard Clay Paky menu structure, and a battery means these can be addressed without needing power. Unit power is supplied by the new TrueCon input connectors, and the IPS units are supplied with 16a to TrueCon leads. DMX is on and out on both 3pin and 5pin XLR connectors. The fixture weighs in at 31kg per unit, and IPS units will typically be cased in pairs.
The clever optics of the Mythos, coupled with the 170mm diameter front lens are what make the amazing zoom possible. With both fixed and rotating gobo wheels, an animation wheel, colour wheel, two prisms, CMY colour mixing and a frost filter, there are lots of looks that can be created – including morphing between gobos. The fixture has almost three modes, with a 4° to 31° zoom range for sharp focussing the fixed gobos, an 8° to 50° range for sharp focussing the rotating gobos, and a beam mode offering a 0.5° pipe effect for parallel beams.
The Mythos really are impressive fixtures, and sit nicely alongside the Clay Paky A.leda K20 B-Eye LED fixtures.
